About our therapists – Kristina

Hello, welcome to Keighley Counselling. My name is Kristina, and I am a fully qualified Person Centred Counsellor, working in accordance with the BACP Ethical Framework.

I understand that when going through difficulties, reaching out may be a daunting first step, so hopefully by telling you a little more about the counselling process, it might help you feel more at ease. I strongly believe that the quality of the relationship between counsellor and client is central to fostering change, and therefore, finding the right therapist is one of the most important choices you will make when starting your counselling journey. To help us get a sense of whether we are the right fit for each other, I am happy to offer an initial phone call prior to our first session, where we can also discuss any further questions that you might have. From then, our sessions can be either face to face or online, whichever you feel most comfortable with.

Throughout our therapeutic relationship you will be met with warmth, respect and integrity, and will be provided with a safe place to explore your feelings and any issues that may be causing you discomfort. We will work at your pace to try to understand what is going on for you whilst also finding ways to make positive changes in your life. I am a great believer in the saying, “a problem shared is a problem halved” and I am strongly in the opinion that, to thrive, our mental wellbeing should be held in as high regard as our physical health, both going hand in hand at times. I feel it is important to have access to a support system, and someone that can be there for us in times of need, and in doing so, the counselling process can often be life changing. During our sessions I will take a non-directive, person-centred approach, and through empathy and acceptance, we will work together to empower you to make choices, deepen your understanding of self, and give you the courage and confidence to enable change, finding the most helpful ways forward for you.

I have experience in supporting people facing stress, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, to identity issues, neurodiversity, relationship issues, grief, trauma and more. I endeavour to be inclusive within my practice and really value working with a diverse range of people, including different social, cultural and ethnic backgrounds, genders, sexual orientation and faiths, continuously learning from people’s perspectives and experiences.
